Johnson and Johnson “most admired” pharma company
A survey conducted by Fortune determined that the company are most admired by peers out of all the pharma companies globally
A survey conducted by Fortune Magazine on “World’s Most Admired Companies” found that Johnson and Johnson are the most admired out of all the pharmaceutical companies globally, by peers inside and outside the industry.
The company manufacture, among other things, pharmaceuticals for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and immunological diseases; and medical devices for surgical implementations.
Fortune magazine surveyed 680 companies across 28 countries in 50 industries. Corporate executives were asked to look at the companies in their industries on a number of different criteria.
These criteria included investment value, quality of management and products, social responsibility and proficiency in attracting talent.
“Having the respect of your peers and your competitors is absolutely crucial in business,” said Nicholas Varchaver, Assistant Managing Editor of Fortune.

Of the pharmaceutical companies, Johnson and Johnson scored the top spot for the fourth year in a row, coming in at number 13 across all companies and industries. It came 15th place last year.
One factor that may have helped its position is Johnson and Johnson’s work in newborn and child health, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, “with the aim of giving the most vulnerable populations access to the care and treatment they need.”
The company also have a good reputation for staff support. Johnson and Johnson’ state that their mission is “to put people’s needs front and centre”, including those who make up its workforce.
The company recently expanded its parental leave policy in the US to give new mothers up to 17 weeks of paid leave during the first year of birth and eight weeks for new parents of any kind, including those who choose to adopt.
In 2016, insurance coverage for fertility in the US was extended to include same-sex couples and adoption reimbursement benefits were increased to up to $20,000 per child. Nursing mothers who travel for work can take advantage of a new program that securely ships breast milk back home.
