Partnership formed to combat pharmaceutical counterfeiting
Bio/pharmaceutical analytical and bioanalytical contract solutions provider, SGS, has entered into a partnership with Nature’s Fingerprint, which specialises in product and process authentication using natural tracer, to combat pharmaceutical counterfeiting.
This partnership will enable SGS to provide its clients with a unique additional analytical service that uses cutting edge technology to verify product authenticity, process authenticity and product/process infringement.
The technology available from Nature’s Fingerprint works by determining stable isotope ratios from bulk phases or specific compounds through combustion or mass spectrometric analysis.
“Through this partnership, SGS now has the capability to enhance its analytical consulting and analytical service offering, especially with regard to comparability or biosimilarity studies,” commented Mark Rogers, global technical director, Life Sciences. “SGS’s unrivaled experience in this field will now extend to the selection and categorisation of reference material lots and manufacturing process profiling.”
Nature’s Fingerprint Authentication is a subsidiary of Molecular Isotope Technologies that contributes to the mitigation of identity theft of both the pharmaceutical products and the synthetic pathways by which they were produced via pharmaceutical product and process authentication.
