Self-cleaning keyboard developed for healthcare organisations
A self-cleaning keyboard which claims to eliminate 99.99% of bacteria and pathogens has been developed by technology company Vioguard.
The keyboard comes with its own case which acts as the cleaning device. When sent into the case, a type of ultraviolet light eliminates germs to disinfect the keyboard within 90 seconds.
The keyboard can also detect when it hasn’t been used for a few minutes and will automatically enter the case to begin the cleaning method.
The product is an example of the ways in which technology can be used to help reduce infection within healthcare organisations.
The product isn’t being sold yet but Vioguard claim it will begin selling its self-cleaning keyboards later this year. Besides the healthcare sector the company hopes to expand its business into offices and homes.
